An ozone generator is a device that produces ozone (O 3). Ozone is a strong‑oxidizing allotrope of oxygen.
Most industrial ozone generators adopt corona discharge technology. High‑voltage electric field splits oxygen molecules and recombines them into ozone.
Ozone is widely used for water disinfection, decolorization, odor removal and organic pollutant degradation.
Advantages
Powerful disinfection and oxidation performance. No persistent chemical residue after decomposition into oxygen. Provides short‑term residual disinfection effect.
Disadvantages
High equipment and operating cost. Ozone gas is toxic, so off‑gas destruction unit is mandatory. Disinfection by‑product such as bromate may form when bromide exists in raw water. Short half‑life of ozone.
