Industry Applications
There are three main gas‑source types: air‑fed, cylinder oxygen‑fed, and PSA oxygen‑fed.
1. Air‑fed
Ambient air is used as gas supply, normally equipped with air compressor and drying‑filter system.
‑ Principle: Ambient air is drawn in, filtered and dehumidified before entering the ozone discharge tube. Oxygen in air is ionized to generate ozone.
‑ Advantages: No external oxygen supply required, simple operation and low running cost.
‑ Disadvantages: Nitrogen in air will produce by‑product nitrogen oxides (NOₓ); relatively low ozone concentration; ozone output is greatly affected by air humidity.
‑ Applications: Wastewater treatment, space disinfection and general water treatment.
2. Cylinder oxygen‑fed (external oxygen cylinder)
High‑purity oxygen is supplied from external high‑pressure oxygen cylinders to the ozone chamber.
‑ Advantages: High and stable ozone concentration; nearly no nitrogen oxide by‑products.
‑ Disadvantages: Regular purchase and replacement of oxygen cylinders are required; cylinders are classified as dangerous goods with strict shipping & courier restrictions.
‑ Applications: High‑concentration‑required scenarios, pure water, pharmaceutical industry and advanced oxidation processes (AOP).
3. PSA oxygen‑fed (pressure swing adsorption, integrated oxygen source)
Built‑in PSA oxygen‑generation module produces high‑purity oxygen on‑site for ozone tubes, no high‑pressure gas cylinder involved.
‑ Principle: Compressed air passes through molecular sieve to separate oxygen with purity of 90‑93% for ozone generation.
‑ Advantages: No cylinder replacement on‑site; continuous on‑site oxygen production; free of high‑pressure hazard, complete unit can be shipped as a whole.
‑ Disadvantages: Larger equipment footprint; regular maintenance for filters and molecular sieve; incoming air quality shall meet requirements.
‑ Applications: Overseas export projects, sites with inconvenient cylinder replacement, water treatment and advanced oxidation processes.
