Note: The rated lamp life refers to the effective operating hours while maintaining ≥80% UV output intensity, not until the lamp burns out.
Low-Pressure High Output (LPHO) UV lampStandard effective life: 9,000 ~ 12,000 hours. For swimming pool applications with stable water quality and good heat dissipation, 10,000 hours is typical. The lamp may still light up after this period, but UV intensity drops and disinfection dose becomes insufficient. Timely replacement is required.
Medium-Pressure (MP) UV lampStandard effective life: 3,000 ~ 6,000 hours. High power and high heat result in much shorter service life compared with LPHO lamps. For swimming pool chloramine reduction, replacement cycle is normally planned at around 4,000 hours.
Power supply: Stable electronic ballast extends life; voltage fluctuation accelerates aging
Temperature: Each lamp has an optimal working temperature. Overheating inside reactor shortens service life
On-off cycles: Frequent start-stop greatly reduces lamp life. Continuous operation is recommended for UV systems
Water quality: Scaling on quartz sleeve leads to poor heat dissipation and faster UV decay
