Match lamp type and rated power (core requirement)
Low pressure / low pressure high output UV lamps: use electronic ballasts. Ensure rated output power, operating current and ignition voltage of ballast match lamp specification. Do not use high power ballast for small lamp, which will burn out the lamp.
Medium pressure UV lamps: use special medium pressure ballast. Medium pressure lamp has totally different arc and ignition characteristics, low pressure ballast cannot drive it.
Power supply voltage matching Single phase: 220V AC (China), 110V AC (overseas). High power units: 380V AC. Wide input voltage ballast is recommended for unstable power grid.
Enclosure protection rating
Inside electric cabinet: IP20
Humid pump room or outdoor installation: minimum IP54 for moisture and condensation resistance.
Functional features
Lamp failure alarm: dry contact signal for lamp break or aging, suitable for remote monitoring.
Soft preheating start: reduce impulse current on startup, extend lamp life, highly recommended for LPHO lamps.
Built-in protection: over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature and short-circuit protection.
Optional dimming function: adjust UV output according to water flow rate for energy saving.
Heat dissipation and service life High power ballasts require good heat dissipation. Industrial grade ballast design life ≥50,000 hours.
Certifications (critical for export orders) China: 3C; Export markets: CE, UL, RoHS etc., to meet customs requirements.
Additional notes
Cable length limit: too long wire between ballast and lamp will cause voltage drop and abnormal lamp operation.
One ballast for one lamp is preferred. Multi-lamp driving design is harder for troubleshooting.
