Price Gap Between Low-pressure and Medium-pressure UV Lamps

  • Lamp price
    Medium-pressure lamps are generally 3~10 times more expensive than low-pressure lamps of similar power rating.
    Low-pressure amalgam lamp (320W): 200~700 RMB/unit, service life ≥12000h.
    Medium-pressure lamp: 1500~8000+ RMB/unit, service life around 5000h.
  • Ballast cost
    Medium-pressure dedicated ballast is also far more expensive than low-pressure type. They cannot be interchanged.
  • Total investment
    Low-pressure system: Lower initial investment; more lamps but cheap components.
    Medium-pressure system: Higher upfront cost; fewer lamps yet each unit is costly.
  • Lifecycle OPEX
    Low-pressure: Lower maintenance cost, long replacement cycle, high energy efficiency.
    Medium-pressure: Higher recurring replacement cost, but capable of TOC removal, chloramine decomposition and AOP processes.
