Normal Range of Insulation Resistance for Electronic Ballasts

Minimum qualified standard (tested with 500V megohmmeter):

Insulation resistance ≥ 5 MΩ.

Classification standard

≥5 MΩ: Good insulation, qualified for installation.

1 MΩ ~ 5 MΩ: Slightly damp; re-dry and re-seal before retest.

＜1 MΩ: Serious insulation failure; power-on is forbidden.

Ideal value

Fully sealed and dry ballasts usually reach dozens to hundreds of MΩ.

Note: Always use 500V test voltage. Higher voltage like 1000V will damage internal electronic components. Low readings caused by high humidity or uncured coating will recover after drying.
