Standard electronic ballasts (for low-pressure high-output UV lamps): preheating time is fixed and non-adjustable. The preheating duration (typically 0.2~2.0s) is programmed in factory firmware. No potentiometer or communication port is reserved. This type is widely equipped on most conventional flow-through UV disinfection systems.
High-end programmable electronic ballasts: preheating time can be adjusted. Equipped with MCU control. Parameters can be modified via RS485/Modbus, dedicated software, DIP switches or onboard potentiometers.
Adjustable range: generally 0.1s~3.0s
Application: high-end water treatment UV equipment and OEM customized projects, to match lamp characteristics and extend lamp service life.
Note: Longer preheating time does not mean better performance. Excessively long preheating will accelerate filament aging; insufficient preheating fails to reduce starting surge. The setting must comply with the lamp manufacturer’s recommended parameters.
