Tools Required
Use a 500V megohmmeter (insulation resistance tester).
Preconditions
Completely power off and disconnect all wires.
Remove UV lamp load.
Ensure the surface is dry and the conformal coating is fully cured.
Wiring Method
Connect the L terminal of the megohmmeter to all shorted input and output terminals of the ballast.
Connect the E terminal to the metal enclosure or ground screw.
Test Procedure
Short all ballast terminals together.
Connect the test leads, start the megohmmeter and keep steady voltage at 500V.
Read the stable insulation resistance value.
Judgment Standard
≥5 MΩ: Qualified, safe for installation.
1~5 MΩ: Slightly damp, needs drying and re-sealing.
<1 MΩ: Poor insulation, forbidden to power on, repair again.
Precautions
Do not test with power on; discharge the ballast after testing; keep the coating fully cured before inspection.
