Select based on the maximum hourly flow rate of the system instead of average flow rate. For swimming pool circulation, match the circulation pump flow. UV dose recommendation: ≥30 mJ/cm² for regular pool disinfection; ≥40 mJ/cm² for inactivation of resistant pathogens such as Cryptosporidium. UV dose determines disinfection performance.
Low-pressure high-output (LPHO) lamp: Single wavelength at 254 nm. Low power consumption, long service life and low maintenance cost. Ideal for standard swimming pools and domestic purified water.
Medium-pressure (MP) lamp: Broad-spectrum UV. Capable of chloramine degradation and AOP advanced oxidation. High power, higher purchase cost and shorter lamp life. Suitable for pools requiring chloramine removal.
304 / 316L stainless steel: 316L is preferred for chlorinated pool water for better resistance to chloride corrosion. Polished inner surface reduces scaling and maintains UV transmittance.
Carbon steel is not recommended due to rust risk.
Turbidity reduces UVT and weakens UV penetration. Pre-filtration is mandatory (sand filter + fine filter for swimming pools). Inlet turbidity should be kept below 1 NTU.
Electronic ballast for stable operation and lamp status monitoring.
Optional parts: UV intensity sensor, lamp runtime counter, audible & visual alarm, automatic/manual quartz sleeve wiper. Scaling on quartz sleeves blocks UV light; cleaning assembly is recommended for hard water.
Standard pressure rating: 1.0 MPa. Upgrade chamber for high-pressure applications. Match port size to on-site piping. Horizontal installation is preferred, reserve space for lamp replacement.
Export projects: CE, UL. Domestic water-related projects require national health approval. Confirm warranty terms for reactor and lamps, spare parts lead time.
Evaluate total cost including initial investment, annual lamp replacement, power consumption and maintenance labor, not only equipment price.
