How to Prevent Electronic Ballast from Moisture During Operation

Select proper protection grade

Choose ballasts with IP65 / IP67 protection, fully enclosed, waterproof and anti-corrosion potting type. Avoid ordinary open-type civil ballasts in water treatment sites.

Reasonable installation position

Keep away from water dripping, steam, pond top, low-lying and damp underground areas; install vertically at a higher position to reduce moisture accumulation.

Good enclosure sealing

Equip control cabinets with waterproof gaskets; use waterproof cable glands at wire inlets; reserve drainage holes to avoid water backflow.

Ventilation and temperature control

Keep proper ventilation in the cabinet; install cooling fans or heaters in high humidity environment to prevent condensation caused by temperature difference.

Waterproof wiring

Use waterproof cables; seal all wire joints with heat shrink tubes and self-fusing tape; avoid exposed terminals.

Manufacturing and maintenance process

Apply full conformal coating on PCB; use silicone potting for key models; fully dry the ballast before sealing and installation after repair.

Daily maintenance

Regularly check sealing performance and aging gaskets; clean internal dust periodically; power on idle regularly for long-term idle equipment to remove moisture by self-heating.
