Lamp type and qualityLow-pressure high-output lamps have a rated effective service life of 9000~12000 hours; medium-pressure lamps are normally 2000~4000 hours. Poor-quality lamps suffer rapid UV decay and much shorter actual lifespan.
Ballast matchingMismatch between electronic ballast and lamp power, or excessive voltage fluctuation causes frequent start-stop and unstable current, accelerating electrode aging of the lamp.
Start-stop frequencyFrequent switching shocks the lamp electrodes and speeds up electrode wear. Continuous operation achieves far longer lamp life than frequent on-off cycles.
Operating temperatureLow-pressure lamps have an optimal working temperature (~40℃). Excessive water temperature, poor ventilation and heat accumulation inside reactor reduce UV output and accelerate lamp aging. Too low temperature prevents lamps from reaching optimal performance.
Water quality and scalingCalcium, magnesium ions and suspended solids in water form scale on the outer surface of quartz sleeve. The scale blocks UV light and changes heat transfer. Corrosion or scratches on quartz sleeve also affect the whole system.
Installation and vibrationUnstable installation and continuous vibration from pipeline water impact may damage the internal filament of the lamp and lead to premature failure.
Routine maintenanceFailure to clean quartz sleeves regularly and inspect electrical circuits, running the unit under faulty conditions accelerates lamp UV decay.
Power supply conditionUnstable grid voltage, surge current and poor grounding continuously damage ballast and lamps, shortening lamp service life.
