Clean dust, lint and scale from air inlet, outlet and heat sink, ensure unobstructed airflow
Check cooling fan: no stall, abnormal noise or low speed; replace damaged fan blade/fan
Check fan wiring and terminals for loose connection or oxidation
Do not seal the ballast enclosure, keep ventilation gap; avoid mounting next to hot pipes or equipment
If ambient temperature >40℃: add exhaust fan / cooling unit or relocate ballast
Keep spacing between multiple ballasts, avoid tight stacking
Verify ballast rated power/current matches UV lamp (LPHO / MP), overload is forbidden
Aged lamp with rising lamp voltage will draw extra power and heat up ballast; test with new good lamp
Check lamp socket and output cable for insulation damage and leakage
High or fluctuating mains voltage increases power loss; install voltage stabilizer if needed
Check input terminals for loose wiring
Degraded / bulging electrolytic capacitors or aged power semiconductor devices cause high loss
Temperature sensor drift leads to false overheat alarm; test by replacing sensor
Dried thermal grease between chip and heat sink; reapply thermal grease (professional service only)
Replace with original matched ballast if internal components are aged
Select ballast with separate air channel and high ambient temperature rating; active cooling fan recommended for MP UV
Reduce frequent on-off cycles, repeated start will accumulate heat
