Advanced oxidation processes are widely applied in advanced drinking water purification. Typical examples include the O₃/UV and H₂O₂/UV combined processes used in water treatment plants to remove micro-pollutants, algal toxins, pesticide residues, and precursors of disinfection byproducts. AOPs are also used in photocatalytic oxidation systems for high-quality drinking water production, as well as in bottled water treatment and emergency water supply projects. They effectively improve the safety, taste and stability of drinking water.
